Do you have to be African-American to join the NAACP?
No. In 1909, the NAACP was formed by a multiracial group of people. We welcome all races, cultures, and ethnicities who share the mission, objectives, and the vision of the NAACP.

Where are you located and when do you meet?
Our general membership meetings are the fourth Thursday of every month at 7 pm. We meet at the Charles Houston Community Center at 901 Wythe Street in Alexandria, VA. How can I switch my membership to the Alexandria Branch?
You must write a letter to the National Office asking that they transfer your membership to the Alexandria Branch, Unit 7043.

Who is the Branch president?
The NAACP, Alexandria, branch president is LaDonna Sanders.

How do I join the Branch?

You can become a member of the Branch for as low as $30/yr (adult) and/or for $10/yr (youth 10-20). You can join online or mail your completed membership form with a check or money order to the Branch.

Is my membership current?
Your membership expires one year after joining the NAACP. You can find your expiration date on the front of your membership card. For more information,
email us with your name and address. We will be happy to check your membership status.
 
How can I join a committee?
Choose a program that you are interested in and send us an email with your name, phone number, email, and program of interest.
 
Can the NAACP help with me legal issues?
No, the Branch is not a legal service. However, if you feel that you have been discriminated against please see our
Complaint Form page for information. All complaints must be in writing for our Legal Redress Committee to consider them.

How can I participate in local government so that I can help make a difference in our communities?

How do I find out what NAACP Branch events are coming up?

You can check our Branch Calendar

I would like to register to vote. How do I do that?
We encourage you to register to vote. You can get a form at your local
Department of Motor Vehicles. You can also get information from the Virginia State Board of Elections.

Does the Branch offer youth activities?
Yes, we have an active Youth Council. Please send us an email for further information. You can also get information on our Youth Council page.
