The Alexandria NAACP is Revamping!

It saddens our hearts here at the Alexandria NAACP to hear of the bomb threat to our long time family & community partner Alfred Street Baptist Church.

For those of you who didn't know Alfred Street is over 200 years old & is located in "The Bottoms" the cities oldest African American neighborhood. The church has raised and inspired generations of the community leaders we know and love!

We are very thankful this was a false alarm but this event reminds us of the reality of the emboldened evil sweeping across the nation that must be countered with courage and love. We can no longer be silent & passive, we can no longer be stagnant & ignorant, we must be proactive, we must come together and stay together driven by love and determination! Why?

Because we're all we got...

"if not us, then who? If not now, then when?" - John Lewis

Are you as tired as we are about the injustices we've been forced to endure for 400 years?

Are you sickened by our brothers and sisters being shot, lynched, beaten, murdered in cold blood not in the past but TODAY in 2018?

Are you fed up with the rate at which we are being targeted & incarcerated, suspended from school, dying young due to not enough access to health resources whether medical or mental?

Are you ready for a change and want to work as a family to make sure we get everything we deserve?

Then we suggest: November 29th Come join us at Charles Houston @ 7PM for a Community Mastermind to discuss solutions for issues plaguing our community today.

You have a Voice - You have Ideas - You have a Purpose & TOGETHER WE CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING!

This is family, this is love & Bell Hooks said is best: “The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others.”

We hope see you there!
